Introduction
Welcome to my quick and simple portfolio (a proper site and portfolio is coming soon). You have most likely been sent here by Xpertwebsite.com, to have a look at what work I have done prior Xpertwebsite.com and current work that is unrelated to Xpertwebsite.com.

Development Work
Tango Force (»)
History
I first started doing web development and design when I was 15. My first website was for a gaming clan I started called "Tango Force". Basically we were a group of people who all liked to play the same game in the same way. The site was a central place where I could post news, information about becoming a member and keep a record of our scores. The first site was a basic site created in Microsoft Frontpage and eventually developed into a PHP based site using the phpBB system alongside other PHP scripts.
I realised I really enjoyed creating websites and started creating my own PHP scripts and designs for the clan website. In the end I was making websites more than I was playing games with clan members! The final site I made for the clan was the one you can see here. While the design is far from great, it is completely functional and a good example of a site designed for a very specific purpose. Each feature of the site was designed for it's specific purpose.
Features
- Register, login and logout system.
- News posted in the news category of the forums is displayed on the frontpage.
- Send a member a private message.
- Team roster and profile system that displays a members general information, promotions, awards and games that they own.
- Profile manager, for editing account information and listing games that you own.
- Nomination system for nominating a member for an award.
- Forums with search system.
- Contact form.
Notes
- You can login using the username "JohnDoe" and the password "demopass".
- This system was not only designed for a very specific purpose, but a very specific server. I have since moved servers, so there were some issues with the system, such as image verifications not working. I think I have fixed most of them, but any remaining errors will be a result of the server change.
- This site was programmed 4 years ago, so the code is slow and inefficient.
Artlog (»)
History
Another site developed for a specific purpose, I started development of Artlog with the aim to compete against DeviantArt, which at the time was making many users of their site unhappy. I eventually ceased development of Artlog to start on making my own open source CMS (Content Management System) which would form the basis of a new competitor called MyArtlog.com. The CMS is still in development.
Features
- Featured, recent and popular art displayed on the index.
- Very specific registration system, requiring an invite code to join and ensuring the user is old enough to become a member.
- Private messaging system.
- Gallery browser with filters for viewing certain categories.
- View and comment on the art.
- Join as a "viewer" or as a "submitter". By default everyone is a "viewer" and need to enable their artlog in their account settings.
- Submit art and post blogs as an artlog "owner".
- Manage your account and your artlog.
- Subscription system (was still in progress).
- Join an artlog group.
- View a users gallery, blog and summary.
Notes
- You can login using the username "JohnDoe" and the password "demopass".
- If you wish to try the registration process, you can use one of the following invite codes (some may have already been used so keep trying until you find a working one): 5NIBKJ6SLZ, 8WC53DVJSM, AV67W95LJP, DJGBIRM60T, GIQRTSBJ43, HA251I9CGB, IPGTB6J0SR, JZTE1LNMKU, KR7EDIN9FL, KY542VBTQZ.
- When I ceased development the site was in the middle of a re-design, so some pages may have an incomplete design.
Panda CMS (»)
History
This is the first CMS system that I started work on with intent to release publically. It reads and writes to and from XML files, rather than a MySQL database. I designed it to be efficient and simple, with just support foir a blog and creation of static pages. I stopped work on it eventually to start work on a much bigger and better project - CMS Fortheinter.net. Except for having no admin panel, Panda CMS is fully functional.
Features
- View blog entries with comments.
- View static pages with hierarchal organisation.
- Working RSS Feed (see button at bottom of page and in your browser).
Notes
- No administration, login, registration or account manager of any sort.
GP4 Results (»)
History
In my spare time, I often used to play a game called "Grand Prix 4", a Formula 1 simulator. By default the game was set in the 2001 season, but by using modifications, you could race cars and tracks from any season. The unfortunate con of using these modifications was that the championship mode wouldn't work right, with races crashing with 10 laps to go. Doing a single race weekend would work fine, but lacked the depth and long term fun of a championship.
So I created this small PHP program to run from my hard drive so I could record the championshop results and generate the result tables. I initially designed it so I submitted the results by hand, but later realised that the game produces race logs that could be read by the script and altered it accordingly. Having not done much work with "gd" (PHP image manipulation), I also decided to have it generate a championship graph.
Features
- Submit a race log file from Grand Prix 4.
- Read the submitted race log file, combine it with previous results and save championship progress to a text file on the server.
- Generate a drivers championship table, a constructors championship table, a race by race results table and graph of championship progress.
Notes
- Try downloading (right click, save-as), and then submitting one of the following race log files to see the championship alter accordingly. a1-ring.txt, indianapolis.txt, montreal.txt. Be sure to enter a grand prix that isn't already listed in the "Grand Prix of" field.
- It was only designed to do the calculations for my personal use, so is far from perfect.
Lobby's Quiz (»)
History
I made this for my little sister's birthday (who has an obsession with lobsters), for her to use on her own website. A list of questions and possible answers are stored in the database, which it picks at random. You then answer the questions and get a score at the end based on whether the answer was correct or not and how long it took you to answer. At the end of the quiz (20 questions) it tells you what you got right and wrong, with links to relevant articles. The score can then be submitted to a score table.
Features
- Picks questions at random, with a check to ensure the same question doesn't appear more than once in the quiz.
- Displays a different image of the lobster for each category of question.
- Accepts answer varitations, to avoid an incorrect answer on the basis of a minor difference (will accept "The River Nile", "River Nile" and "Nile" for "Which is the longest river in the World?").
- Calculates the users final score on whether the answer was correct or not, with a time penalty for taking too long to answer.
- Displays a break down of the users final score, with links to relevant Wikipedia articles.
- Submit your final score to the score table.
Notes
- The quiz has no design so my sister could design and apply her own to it.
Design Work
Artlog
Description
These are some of the design concepts for the Artlog project mentioned above. It started off as a lime green, grey and white design, before moving onto the series of green, black and white designs where you can clearly see how it developed. The last example is the first concept design of the eventual successor to Artlog, Myartlog.com.

Fortheinter.net
Description
This is a variety of design concepts for the Fortheinter.net website, my official business name. Under this domain will be many sub-domains, with a consistant design across them. I have created a lot of concept designs and still haven't settled on one. My main focus at the moment (apart from doing work for Xpertwebsite.com) is working on the CMS that will power all the sites.
The first is a concept for a template store under the Fortheinter.net name. The second shows what a sub-site for the Panda CMS that I was working on might look like. The third example is of what a user might see when they visit the home page, to introduce them to the products and services offered.

CMS Fortheinter.net
Description
These are a couple of design mocks for the default design included with the CMS that I am producing. It would be a graphic heavy design, so I will probably end up going with something simpler, especially as most people will use their own design.

I have recently decided to start my own blog and these are the designs I came up with for it. I eventually chose the second design, as the first seemed a bit "flat". When I have finished coding it, you will be able to see the design on my blog.

Description
This was done for a design request on a forum I visit regularly. Basically someone posts up a request with payment going to whichever designer produces the design they like the most.
The person requested a design for their online computer store, described what parts of their existing design they wanted to remain and provided the logo. So I created the first example you see here. After some feedback from the person, I had another go and created the second example. After some further feedback saying they wanted more whitespace, I made the alterations as seen in the last example.

The person asking for this had some specific requests for the design. They wanted a pink design, incorporating a picture of the doctors, pictures of babies, a "message of the day" section and a basic logo. This is the resulting design that i came up with.

The guy who asked for this was doing so on the behalf of his boss and had a few specific requests, but said we were free to do what we want otherwise. He wanted the same content on the frontpage as on their existing site and provided pictures that he also wanted incorporated into the design. He also asked that their existing logo be modernised for the design.

Real Estate Logos
Description
This was done for a logo request on a forum I visit regularly. Basically someone posts up a request with payment going to whichever designer produces the logo they like the most.
The member who I did these for posted regular requests for logos for new property developments based within the UK. He would give the name of the property, the location and the "feel" the developers wanted. I'm not a regular logo designer, but gave it a go anyway. These were my entries.
